Hmm.. I could really take advantage of this...
OK--So I have my book back in my possession. It seems that three of you claimed you had it and really only one did so rest easy! I was thinking....maybe I'm missing something else....like, money? So if you happen to find a $20 bill lying around...I'd be willing to claim it...come out of the woodworks now common!!

The one and only...not anymore!!!!
Close encounter with Britany Spare-ribs- a.k.a. us at the pig races

F-A-M-I-L-Y

This is the only picture I was able to take home from the Del Mar Fair (I know it's the San Diego County fair but to me it will always be the Del Mar Fair--just like Qualcomm with always be Jack Murphy!) Anyway, like I posted earlier, I somehow left my camera at the fair...not yet discovered or returned <<---insert--until now!!!!>>...and this is the only picture I have from the fair...cute though huh? We went in the evening right in time for the pig races (my fav) then we went to the petting zoo---WISH I had pics and videos from that-they were so cute! Then we took the kiddies to the little rides. Dan's mom brought little Drew with her and joined us at the fair. So Drew and Alli had a good old time going on the little rides together. We then ran through the exhibits...same old same old...in the same places as every year----plus we don't really have money to splurge right now...thank goodness for the Costco SD fair pack! YAY! Anyway, I always love the tradition of hitting the fair in the summer....

Lazy Summer Days

Lot's of mom's love summer because they like to have a break in schedule and have some down time--not rushing out the door in the morning, being lazy and slow paced....well when you have really young kids those days are pretty much every day so for me, I decided that this summer, it was time for some structure. (I'm sure it will change when my kids are in school.) I made Allison a chore chart with these cute little chores that you put in the pockets and they have a picture of the chore on it so Allison knows what the ... brother stickers--Hallelujah!!!!
Other than that, we've pretty much been swimming and sleeping and swimming and sleeping and Allison has found some new projects like cutting and pasting,

(Allison wanted to cut coupons with me so I gave her some to cut up and she even cleaned up every piece afterwards-and earned a sticker!!!)

...and coloring masterpieces,
and Cole has been discovering treats like lollipops.
I love how he can wander around the house in a diaper all day and show off his tan against his bright white hair. Summer is here!
Father's Day
Allison is getting a lot better about me doing her hair and on Sundays when I ask her how she wants her hair done, her usual response is, "pretty!" That is her word for a particular french rope I do that's really pretty but on Father's Day I decided to try something a little different so I did a french braid spiraling around her head. It turned out surprisingly good and stayed pretty good all day too!

So on to the main reason for this post...besides braging about having a little girl to do fun hairstyles on like I've always dreamed....
Father's Day was a nice relaxing one this year. Dan got a breakfast burrito in bed...(we're out of Grandma's Sycamore bread so no tastey french toast this Father's Day)... and Allison colored a cute little picture for him. Cole was sleeping in as usual so he didn't greet him with us in the morning. After church, the Dixon's, Dan's brothers, his mom, his dad and his wife all came up for dinner- flank steak and twice baked potatoes...which were the size of my head... and corn on the cob. We pretty much stuffed our faces and then rested on the couch while we watched the tail end of the US Open and it got a bit animated....as you can see in the following picture....but it was still nothing compared to the "energy" in our house the next day of the US Open with Dan's brother all worked up over it.

I told Dan on Mother's Day that every day felt like Mother's Day with the way he treats me and how much he helps around the house and with the kids, and Father's Day wasn't much different. I kept telling him to go relax on the couch but he insisted on doing something...he can rarely sit still when there's something to be done...which is why it's nice to do dinner elsewhere too. He proceeded to clean out the fridge of the old food--I know-who wants to do that-EVER, let alone on Father's Day--answer:Dan

Dan is the funnest Daddy--he chases the kids around the house and they squeal with delight. They love to play with him and go places with him. I'm always hoping for a way out of taking the kids with me on errands but Dan is always the first one to offer bringing one or both of the kids with him when he goes somewhere. He is an amazing father and I knew he would be even before we had kids. He's a great uncle too...even though he tends to rile up the kids right before bedtime...but I'm lucky to have him as the father of our kids and as my amazing husband!

Why now?
Since Dan has been laid off, I've had to get my middle console lid fixed in my car- $200... fix the broken fruit drawer in my fridge-$95...and now, the most depressing of all, I somehow left my digital camera at the Del Mar fair between the last ride Allison went on and the walk to the car, not realizing it until the next morning I went to get the pictures off the camera....$160+
So I suppose that's why my blog has been silent for the last few weeks. I'm trying the take it all in and take a deep breath to move on. Thanks goodness I download my pictures frequently so I do have most of them...not to mention I use my nicer Cannon often too so I'm not completely out of luck...so with that, I will catch up a little with our latest excursions...
