Bouncer

I got this new door bouncer thing for Cole and he got a kick out of it...the only thing is I think he can only use it when Allison is asleep--otherwise we could have a disaster on our hands!

It's us!

I never put pictures of Dan or myself on here so here are just a couple!

Giggles

This is a moment I've been looking forward to.

Family Home Evening

K. So Dan kinda "winged it" for FHE tonight. We were going to do an activity but it was too late and we needed some other supplies for what we wanted to do so Dan decided to give a lesson on the sacrament. He hopped up and got some props. He happened to grab the bag of bread (with about 3 slices in it) and her sippy cup of water. He said, "When we go to church, we take the sacrament." Then he grabbed his props and said, holding up the bread, "What's this Allie?" Her reply?---"French toast!" We laughed so hard. That's been her breakfast of choice lately and she sees me use that to make it. She seriously didn't know what it was really called. (She doesn't like sandwiches so she doesn't eat much bread.) Dan explained to her what it was and what it meant and then he held up her sippy cup of water and said, "Allie, what's this?" And she replied confidently, "Milk!" Dan looked over at me and said, "This is really backfiring isn't it?" I love kids and their sweet innocence. Here she is with Dan's props :)

They're Gone!!!

Well, the Critter Control was back at it again and after spending a little time in the attic, he came downstairs with a black trash bag and I asked, "Any luck??" And he held up 2 fingers!! "Two?!" I said. He said it was two babies only a couple months old. Thankfully it had a happier ending--they literally crawled right up to him and he scooped them up and placed them in the bag. They were actually kinda cute--for pidgeons. I believe the bird saga is over. Our guest can now rest in peace....as soon as Cole stops getting up in the night:)

Summersault

Check out how good my nephew is at summersaults....look mom--no hands!

What is crawling in my walls??

So, many months ago---I'd say at least 8, I heard something purring in what seemed to be my upstairs hallway wall. I put my ear up to the wall and followed the purring sound followed by some scratches of feet seemingly caught up in the beams or insulation in my walls. Grossed out, and assuming it was a racoon or something, I called some rodent control and told them I thought I had a racoon stuck in my walls. By the sound of it--I was convinced it was in heat or in labor. The guy asked me some questions and decided he wanted to see this for himself. But before he got directions, he asked if there was any way it could be birds?
I opened a window in our bonus room upstairs and took out the screen, and sure enough, as I peeked my head out, there were pidgeons gathered on the roof where two eaves meet. I told him not to worry and that it was just birds on my roof but the roof meets right up against that hallway wall.
I had our builder come out 2 months later when we were convinced the birds were getting into our attic and they assured us there was no opening into our house from that dark area in the eaves.
6 months later.
We have a house guest that stays with us for 2 weeks and the Dixons 2 weeks trading off, until he can find a house and move his family down here from Washington. So I felt bad because we had to kick him out of the "guest" room and onto the bonus room couch so we could get Cole in his crib in that room and let him cry it out until he could sleep all night on his own. I apologized for him having to deal with the crying at night and he said it wasn't the crying that kept him up--it was the birds!!!

On Friday, I found out that the builder was wrong. Critter Control came to the rescue and this guy crawled on his belly over the fiberglass insulation all the way over the hall and to the bonus room and sure enough there was a foot long opening from the eaves and bird poop IN MY ATTIC in a 16 square foot area. Ugg. Yesterday, they came back and sealed up the hole and vacuumed up the crap. I swear it should be on that "dirtiest jobs" show. He left and what happened next?.....
I heard a bird. In my attic. That's right. He sealed a freaking pidgeon IN my attic!
A new guy came today, crawled on his belly with a net and after finding two pidgeons, he did what he said he learned to do to the chickens on the farm. Enough said. Hence the lack of pictures for this post...although I do have some. Sick.
He starts to leave...and what do I hear?????....ANOTHER BIRD! They will be back tomorrow.

Favorite Things

Allison loves to color. I've finally found something that honestly occupies Allison for an hour at a time. We bought her those Color Wonder markers--best invention ever-- and she gets lost in her coloring books for the longest time. I caught a picture of her doing that, and her other favorite thing--wearing my shoes. Now for the lesson on modesty.

French Braids!

I was so excited the other day when I attempted to do french braids in Allison's hair for the first time. It was difficult and ended up a bit wispy but it worked! I've been waiting for the day when I could braid my little girl's hair. I left for the weekend for a girl's trip (Cole got to come) and Dan tried to do her hair and realized it's harder than it looks. He was so sweet to let me go relax for a weekend.

New Tricks!!

Cole has learned some new tricks! His latest few are grabbing his toes and playing with his tongue!! He even rolled over from his back to his tummy for the first time today. It may have been a fluke but I really don't think so. We'll see. He is already 4 months old and it freaks me out. He had a doctor's appointment today and he is 15 lbs, 9 oz.!!! He is 26 1/2 inches long too so he's 90th percentile for height--no surprise there, and 75th for weight. While we waited for the doctor, Allison and I played around in the room and weighed her and measured her height. I heard that if you double girls' height at age 2-that is how tall they will grow up to be.... Allison is well on her way to 5' 10"! Poor thing--she'll be taller than the boys like I was.
